Editing Final Touches PART II

So after our rough cut we had some final touches to add onto our video to give it that final pop art and youthful feel! The process is long and tedious but has great results! The effect is a sort of light strobe line that goes over the original image, this is the tutorial we used to help us;

And here is our process:

Editing Final Touches PART I

THE FILTERING PROCESS

ADDING STRIP BARS/LETTER BOXES

ADDING A STYLISTIC EDIT

In her lates music video, Britney Spears uses the strip bars in a clever and unique way by widening them as something happens within the song, we used this technique when the musical break kicks in for our song. We feel its a good stylistic technique to follow from because Britney is a pop star (much like our song is in the pop genre) and she has a very high production value glossy video (which is the kind of effect we want to give off with our video).

Production - photo editing and potential digipak CD covers

This is a digipak CD cover model and I have already started looking at the sizing of the photo to see if it will fit. This is an example.

Production - The Rough Cut Has Landed!

So, being as organised as we are; Group 21 have managed to finish their rough cut a WHOLE WEEK before the rough cut cut deadline! We couldn't be more happy and proud of ourselves! We think it looks good but are open to the feedback we will receive from our teachers! Fingers crossed!

Still to come in our final edit… Gamma Correction, DeNoisers, Unsharpen Masks, Additional filters, strobe line effects and opening titles!

After The Drama...

Here's a little publication I put together about my filming experience and how I feel it went!

Mmmm, Those Photo Edits...

When looking at the photos I found that some were more suited for the digi-packs and adverts than others. The ones that were more casual however still deserved some attention; so here are some edits i did of some of the photos taken…

Filming on Tuesday!

Production - How's the editing going?

Editing so far has gone really well and we've managed to complete most of it in the space of two lessons. We've got a lot of good shots from which we can use and experiment with. Here's some screen shots to give you some idea of what we've been getting up to and how it's going...

Here's a screenshot of when we initially started our editing, as you can see we were halfway through the the first scene.

This is a screenshot showing all our clips sorted into folders according to the scenes.

Here's a screenshot of us including motion in our video.

This is another screenshot of an example of the motion used in our video, which is a bit further into the video.

Here's a screenshot paused on a part of the jump cuts used in our video. It was quite hard to capture the fact that it is a jump cut. (right screen)

Here's another screenshot, again much like the jump cut screenshot it was hard to capture the fact that we enlarged the screen to the beat in our video which I think looked really good. (right screen)

On the right screen is an example where we used the cross dissolve effect to switch from the Hyde Park scene to the Mile End scene due to Romy hitting the camera.

This is a screenshot of the last bit of the video where we again use the dissolve effect to switch from my sad face (Luke) to Romy's happy face because she's finally got the better of me.

Production - What we gon' do next?

How filming went on Tuesday!

English Weather... Sigh

So basically the weather sort of ruined our original plan to go out filming in half term, but luckily we planned ahead so that we allowed ourselves some time just in case something like this happened... phew.

Originally our plan was to film on the monday and tuesday of half term and then we'd be finished, but with some weather and equipment complications, we had to change the dates, so we ended up filming on the Tuesday that we got back from college. We managed to get quite a lot done, going to Mile End to do the alleyway scene, and to Hyde Park to do the picnic scene, the weather wasn't as good as we wanted it to be, but was definitely do-able, although it was absolutely freezing cold. Honestly this kind of made us complete the filming quicker as everyone was dying of coldness.

Ah well, one more day of filming to go and we are finished!

ITS COMPETITION TIME.

It's on like donkey kong.

That's what friends are for...

During the half term because i am such a nice human being i decided to help out group 11 with their filming.
They needed a girlfriend figure so i stepped in and helped out.

this is one of the shots that was taken whilst i was being filmed for POV shots.

The Plan For This Week/end!

Here I am (with my big mouth) talking about what we plan to do this weekend in order to complete our filming! Please also enjoy the accompanying images (smiley face)

Because I'm Such A Good Sport...

Since my group was having trouble with finding time for filming earlier in the week, on Monday I decided to put my three hour college gap to use and help out a fellow media group! Group 19 looked like they could use a hand and so I became a rodie and honorary group member for two hours. I had so much fun and watched how another group operated which was both intriguing and disturbing… anyway without further ado here's a link to the blog post i'm on!

Mile End & Hyde Park (Filming Day 2)

Filming Issues... But We Have A Solution!

During the half term we decided as a group that it would be a very good idea to film during the half term holidays. So we booked a day to film on (originally Tuesday) and we got all the equipment out from college, ready to return it all on the Wednesday after filming. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the dates so instead of being able to film on the Tuesday and hand the equipment back into college on the Wednesday after, we had to give back all the equipment on the Tuesday morning that we were planning to film on. We had also planned to film on the the first day of half term (Monday) but there were a
lot of weather warnings about storms in London and considering we wanted to film outside, the weather forecast wasn't in our favor.

Once we had realized that the equipment had to be back in for Tuesday morning at 10 am we decided to film the day after (Wednesday) however i couldn't film because i already had plans that i couldn't get out of.

We have already filmed the first part of the music video and i have absolutely no doubt that we will have finished all the filming before the deadline.

We plan to film next Tuesday (the 5th November) and get a few if not all of the scenes done needed to complete our music video :)

10 Minute Choreography Tutorial

Due to the fact we have choreography in our music video (a complicated but necessary part of a pop music video), we had to develop some dance moves to go along with the song. I having experience in choreography created the dance and developed a tutorial for some of the dancers to watch to help them along with learning the chore. So here it is;
